Northwest Objectivists (NWO) is a social group for Objectivists living in the area centered around Seattle, WA, ranging south to Portland, OR and north to Vancouver, BC.  As a social group, our primary purpose is to foster a community network for Objectivists based upon positive social interactions.  A secondary purpose is to help members launch other groups which focus on activism or study.  Therefore, we deliberately do not focus on either activist or scholarly activities as a group.

Currently, our group is composed of over 50 members throughout the Pacific Northwest.  We are a very diverse group ranging from single people in their 20’s to young families, to working professionals, to retirees.  Our members have a wide range of occupations including: engineering, writing, nursing, law, marketing, parenting, and many others.  Our members also have a wide variety of interests and hobbies: brewing beer, woodworking, swing dancing, amateur aviation, hiking, and many more.  What we all share is a passion for living, and dedication to Objectivism as our moral foundation for life.

Our typical calendar consists of potluck socials held at the Seattle coordinators’ home every other month, and monthly open house events held at the Portland coordinators’ home.  Members are welcome (and encouraged) to plan other events, and we’ve held a wide variety: a tour of downtown Portland, a BBQ on the top of a Seattle skyscraper, a tour of a decommissioned nuclear facility, and other exciting events.

If Northwest Objectivists sounds like a fit for your convictions and personal sense of life, we encourage you to join!  Just check out the How to Join section to learn more.
